Russ Pullen is a specialist Reportage, Photojournalist and Contemporary Wedding Photographer covering Kent, Sussex, Surrey and London. I do this job because I love it, wedding photography is a passion of mine. In fact, in 2005, I sold my previous business because I wanted to be a fulltime contemporary wedding photographer. Friends told me I was mad, but I have such a passion for wedding photography, especially the styles like Reportage, Photojournalist and Contemporary that I just wanted to focus all my energy on it. And as somebody much wiser then I once said “You can’t embrace the future with both hands if you’re holding onto the past with one of them” In any case, I love what I do and work hard at it – each and every time I shoot a wedding; I honestly try to produce the images to create the best wedding photography album I’ve ever made. My inspiration is drawn from many artists and photographers I admire. Look at my bookshelf and you’ll find work from Jack Vettriano, James Nachtwey, Henri Cartier-Bresson, David Lachapelle, Robert Doisneau, Elliott Erwitt, Robert Capa and Rankin. Two of my closest friends are also photographers, and both inspire me with their work, and encourage me with their words, but I won’t mention them here to save blushes! So now, I’m one of those lucky so-and-so’s that earns his living doing something they truly love, being a reportage, photojournalist and contemporary wedding photographer. Plus I get to travel around Kent, Sussex, Surrey and London.  I used to hate people like me, now I just feel so lucky, like I really don’t deserve it and it’s all a sham! I live in a modest home, in a nice village with both my soul mates – Emma, the human one, and Chutney the Staffie Terrier. Emma’s my fiercest critic and most ardent supporter, constantly encouraging and pushing me in equal measure. She helps me with lots of the work that goes into running the wedding photography business – and she’s much quicker at assembling albums than I am! Chutney’s less critical but just as supportive. So, what 'style' of photographer are you? Many photographers call themselves a Reportage, Photojournalist and Contemporary Wedding Photographer, but with his background in both press and sports photography, Russ has developed a unique style of his own, combining an eye for exciting, spontaneous moments with just the right number of natural, relaxed but created images. Russ is known for his powerful black and white photography which he blends with colour images to tell the story of your day from beginning to end. I'm not in your area, will you travel? Happily! Russ's prices include travel to venues throughout Kent, Surrey, Sussex and London, but he's happy to travel further afield, having shot weddings as far off as Laguna Beach, California.   Do you use digital equipment for your wedding photography? Yes. Being a reportage, photojournalist and contemporary wedding photographer Russ uses professional Canon Digital equipment and has full backup equipment. Whilst not an 'equipment anorak' Russ is fully aware that using the best equipment available means he can produce his best work, reliably and in all circumstances. The quality of modern, professional digital photographs has to be seen to be believed. Prints are photographic prints just like you’d get from a film camera. We do not use inkjet prints!
