Weddings at Lympne Castle
Lympne Castle is a beautiful thirteenth century listed building, set high on a hill above Romney Marshes. The Castle provides a perfect venue for wedding receptions, corporate events and private functions. We've shot a couple of winter weddings there and I really love the feel and character of the venue which makes for fabulous wedding photography opportunties.
From their website......
As you approach the Castle through the North Gate, the Great Hall, with its huge oak doors, looms impressively ahead. You alight in the paved courtyard by the ancient wishing well and pass into the warmth of the entrance hall, where a log fire burns welcomingly.
The wedding party passes down the Long Gallery to the West Wing, which, with its wealth of character and atmosphere, lends itself so perfectly to the solemnity of a wedding ceremony. The Bride and Groom are welcomed by the registrar in the ante room before making their entrance.
The ceremony complete the wedding party retires to the terrace for a celebratory glass of champagne and to enjoy the view. The sun warms the ancient flagstones of the terrace, conversation flows and photographs are taken - the atmosphere is convivial. The guests are invited through to the mediaeval Great Hall for the Wedding Breakfast.
After the speeches guests retire to the comfort of The Old Kitchen or the Parlour or return to enjoy the sunset on the terrace and watch for herons returning to the heronry in the woods below.
Later the celebrations continue with music and dancing in the Great Hall until it is time for the newly weds to say their farewells and pass through the tunnel of linked hands of their well-wishers. The bride turns to throw her bouquet before the loving couple leave to live happily ever after - for how else could such a fairytale day end?
